The filter is made of granular activated carbon (GAC) to reduce chlorine taste and odor, and 1 pound of KDF 55 copper-zinc granules, which use redox (exchange of electrons) to effectively reduce heavy metals and inhibit the growth of algae and bacteria. It has a recommended flow rate of 1 gallon per minute (gpm), and operates over a temperature range of 40 to 125 degrees F (4.4 to 51.7 degrees C).
